The project "Portugal: Art and Heritage", a partnership of Google Arts & Culture with the Ministry of Culture, through the Directorate-General for Cultural Heritage (DGPC), is available on its own website having direct links to the museums, palaces and national monuments under the DGPC, as well as their collections, exhibitions and virtual visits.
With this project, the DGPC offers any interested person, anywhere in the world, the possibility of enriching knowledge about the collections of the museums and national monuments under its care. This tool also opens up a wide range of opportunities for specific audiences, such as the school community, senior citizens, or even academic researchers, by encouraging its use in accordance with the will and needs of each individual. The project can therefore be considered a “visiting card” representative of the national heritage.
Google Arts & Culture presents to the world some of the most prominent Portuguese painters along with a fascinating journey through a thousand years of masterpieces that are responsible for our identification and prestige.
This is a brave new world, an immense territory without borders or restrictions on the contemplation of art and on knowledge of the history and culture of peoples.
