Areas of Expertise
The LJF (José de Figueiredo Laboratory) has both permanent employees and freelancers with extensive experience in its different areas of expertise. Conservators-restorers, physicists, chemists, biologists, X-ray and photography technicians comprise the multidisciplinary teams responsible for implementing and developing the conservation discipline.
In addition to the specificity of each area of intervention, the Laboratory’s common goal is to safeguard and preserve cultural assets based on internationally accepted ethical principles.
Its studies and interventions are systematically documented in the Conservation and Restoration Technical Archive, a fundamental repository for understanding and studying intervened works, supported by the specialised bibliographic collection of the Conservation and Museums Library.
